CONSUMER STUDIES / SENSORY AND CLINICAL

Marketing studies, Sensory studies, Clinical studies, Consumer studies

The Research Center designs specific studies and research services for the agrifoods, hotel and restaurant industries:

Marketing & consumer studies with two possible approaches: product or consumer oriented

  • Product testing (pre-tests and post-tests): Confirmation that a target public likes a new product, prior to or after launch, using questionnaires, tastings and panels.
  • Satisfaction studies: identification of expectations, needs and customer satisfaction for products or services, situated in an actual consumption environment.
  • Recognition survey: evaluation of image and recognition levels for a product or brand to measure attractiveness and gaps between actual perception and target positioning.
  • Blind tests: Testing of products without consumers being able to see the brand in order to benchmark competitive positioning.

Sensory studies
Identifying the sensory differences between products as they are perceived by consumers enables optimization of flavor retention after packaging, for example. These studies also assess the impact of various agronomical practices or production processes, as well as competitive positioning, evaluation of your product’s characteristics and other key factors.

  • Sensory profile: Sensory profiles are established using descriptive analyses to identify the organoleptic characteristics of products (sweet taste, green aroma, etc.). These factors are then quantified according to their intensity.
  • Rating tests are used to rank products against one another based on the intensity of a sensory characteristic.
  • Discriminatory tests are used to determine whether or not there is a difference between samples, without specifying the characteristics that are different, or which sample is preferred.
  • Pleasure tests are used to determine consumer preferences, using results from representative panels.

Health & clinical studies

  • Satiety tests: Monitoring of how full people feel after consuming a product in an actual restaurant situation.
  • Blood tests: Testing of absorption of nutriments after consumption of a product, with biological dosage indicator (ghrelin, leptins, insulin, etc.)
  • Urine analysis: These analyses provide pertinent data for diagnosis of health problems by detecting abnormal substances in the human body.
